PRT Year in Review

Though 2011 is about to come to end, Prado Racing Team is just getting started. The fall Dirt Dog Cross Country series concluded on November 12th, and PRT made a strong showing in its first year. In competitive men's and women's open fields, PRT men claimed 8 of the top 20 spots in the series and the women took 7 of the top 20 spots.

After a long cross country season, PRT is now preparing for the 2012 spring season, with road races, marathons, and track meets on members' calendars. Looking back, a few highlights of PRT's inagural year:

- PRT's debut race at the USA Cross Country Nationals (San Diego, CA), February 5th
- PRT Women win the Carlsbad 5000 (Team/Open Women), April 3rd
- PRT Women win the 2011 Dirt Dog Series (Women Open Team), Men take 3rd
- Jenna Munguia takes home the 2011 Dirt Dog Series crown (Open Women)
- PRT breaks the 10x10K Coed Relay Guiness World Record on June 19 (6:01:35.72)

PRT Ladies win at CSUSM / Dirt Dog Series Update

Today, the PRT women took home another team win at the Cougar Challenge 5K. The PRT ladies held their own against a strong field, as the race draws many college teams from the region.

The fall Dirt Dog Series is well underway, and with two races to go before the series Championships (November 12th, Mission Bay, San Diego CA), the PRT Men's and Women's Open teams are in first place in series team standings. For current Dirt Dog series team standings, click here.

2011 Masters World Championships, Sacramento CA

Less than a month after setting a Guinness world record, PRT takes the international stage again! Congrats to Prado Racing Team member Brian Culley for his 5th place finish at the WMA World Track and Field Championships (M40 / 10,000M)! Nine countries were represented in a 2-heat field of the men's 10K at Sacramento City College Hughes Stadium. For full details, click here.

Fourth of July Races (Coronado and Scripps Ranch)

Prado Racing Team runners were out in force on the Fourth. With solid showings at both the Coronado 15K by the ladies and the Scripps Ranch Old Pros 10K for the men, PRT helped kick off the holiday in fast fashion. Top placings for PRT: Emily Larrimer placed third (women) in Coronado, and Daniel Farmer placed second (men) at the Scripps ranch event. PRT sets new 10x10K World Record!

With a cumulative time of 6:01:35.72, ten Prado Racing Team members set a new Guinness World Record for the co-ed 10 x 10,000-meter relay. In an event spanning over six hours at a north county San Diego area track, the relay came down to the very last runner, and in the end PRT bettered the previous mark by 9 seconds! Encinitas 5K

Taking the top spot in the women's field (Jenna Munguia, 17:12), second in the men's (Mario Fraioli, 15:26), plus a handful of PRs on both the mens and womens squads, Encinitas proves to be a fast course for PRT. For full results, click here.

Carlsbad 5000

In its first co-ed team scored event, PRT makes a solid showing, winning the Open Women, taking the second and third place spots in the the Open Mixed, and second in the Open Men. For full race results, click here. Way to go PRT!

USATF Cross Country Nationals

PRT makes its official racing debut at the USA XC Nationals, held at Mission Bay (San Diego). With men competing at the 12K distance and women 8K, a small PRT squad toed the line with the best in the nation on the Mission Bay 2K grass loop. Thanks to this group for planting the flag and running strong. Brent Vaughn and Shalane Flanagan took the national titles in the men's and women's open races, respectively.
